Kept Handy

Pantry Secrets

Everyone's pantry is as personal as the chef. Only you know what you really need to keep on hand so you can always whip up something in a moment's notice or if you're unable to get to the store for some reason.

I'll keep a running tab on things I find I can't do without as a reference guide but you'll build your own "kitchen supply cabinet" as you go along.

For starters ...
Box o' milk -- the unrefrigerated box of milk is one of my favorite "staples." I find it especially helpful to have this on hand during the winter when sudden storms send countless frantic shoppers to the supermarket for milk, bread and butter. Of these, only the "box of milk" would last in your pantry...which is why I'm listing it here. With this one simple purchase, you need never find yourself battling the crowds at the check-out counters while a raging blizzard builds outside. Simply settle in at home and pop the box of milk in your refrigerator before serving. Better yet, heat it up and serve some hot chocolate!
